This particular white is mainly Malvasia with a splash of Chardonnay and makes for a very approachable 'glugger'.
Very light in color. On the nose, notes of lychee and pineapple with a hint of fennel. In the mouth, crisp and fresh with a mineral texture leading to a surprisingly long finish.

At the winery, the different grape varieties undergo fermentation separately, with the Godello grapes fermenting in wooden fudres, while the Doña Blanca grapes ferment in stainless steel tanks, at low temperatures. Following this, the wine is aged on its lees for between 6 and 8 months, with weekly battonages (which is the French term for stirring settled lees back into wine) Mengonba Blanco is then finally bottled following a light clarification and filtration.

This wine stems from the second oldest planting of Pinot Grigio in Australia. Destemmed, fermented in stainless steel, and kept in contact with it’s lees for extra oomph and texture.
Picked at 12 Baumé, (Baumé, pronounced Boh-May, & Brix are units of measurement for the amount of sugar in grape juice and fermenting wine.) Then crushed/destemmed and fermented. Lees were kept active until bottling to give texture and a small residual of sugar and co2 are retained for vibrancy.

Only a few hundred cases of this are made each year and come from vines which are over 70 years old.verything is hand harvested and after whole bunch pressing it's fermented and aged for a year in used French oak barriques before being bottled.
The resulting wine is rich and supple on the palate with subtle notes of hazelnut, smoke and liquorice. Quite full bodied with a satisfyingly creamy texture, there's plenty of citrus and stone fruit intensity on the palate leading up to a finish which is fresh, long and lingering.
